Publishing your site

Building happens in the editor; publishing is what puts your site on the internet for everyone to see. This guide is the overview — choosing an address has its own detailed guides for free subdomains and custom domains.

How publishing works, in one minute

While you edit, you're working on a draft. Nothing you do is visible to the public until you publish. When you press Publish, Webpress turns your design into a fast live website at your chosen address. After that, your edits stay private until you Update to push them live. Publish for the first time

1. Click Publish in the editor header (top-right). This opens Project Settings on the Domain tab.
2. Choose your address — a free webpress.id subdomain or your own domain.
3. Confirm, and Publish.

The pre-publish quality check

Before your site goes live, the Auditor runs a final scan. If it finds errors — like unreadable text or images with no description — publishing pauses so you can fix them. Warnings and hints don't block you. It's a safety net that keeps broken or inaccessible pages from going public.

Update a published site

After you publish, the header button becomes Update. Whenever you make changes you want to go live, click Update (or Update content in the Domain tab). Your latest edits replace the live version within moments, and you'll see a confirmation.

Remember: editing alone doesn't change your live site. You must Update to publish your changes.

Unpublish and re-publish

In the Domain tab's status section you can Unpublish at any time to take the site offline, and Make live to bring it back. Unpublishing doesn't delete anything — your project and design are untouched.
