The Atlantic from the whitewashed terrace wall of Casa Mirante, swell lines rolling in below the cliff at Ericeira

Six rooms facing the Atlantic

Mirante means lookout. Ours sits on the cliff above Ericeira — rooms from €140 a night, breakfast with the sea included.

Cliff top, Ericeira, Portugal
Open March to November

Mirante is the Portuguese word for lookout. The house was built to watch one thing: the Atlantic, from the cliff above Ericeira.

There are six rooms, no more. By the second morning everyone knows everyone at breakfast, and which table has the best light.

The lanes of the old town are whitewashed and trimmed in cobalt blue. The swell comes in as long lines you can count from the terrace wall, and the sun goes down straight into the sea.

Ribeira d'Ilhas, a World Surfing Reserve break, is ten minutes away on foot. We are open from March to November and closed through the winter. Write to us directly.
